Q: I’m in so much pain, how can you touch me?
The most important thing I’ve learned after 16 years of developing this treatment is that the body needs to be touched in order to heal! Why be in pain when you don’t have to be?
A: Even those in severe pain can tolerate the light touch of this technique. This treatment is very gentle. We use a very light touch with oil for your comfort. By gently moving the fluid in the direction it flows under the skin, Lymphatic Healing Treatments (LHT) will relieve your pain and swelling almost immediately. Lymphatic is not a deep tissue massage or like any other massage you have ever had. We are not concerned with muscles, only the lymphatic fluid.
Q: Why would I want a lymphatic treatment prior to surgery?
A: Lymphatic healing treatments will rid your body of toxins, thus building up your immune system to help you get through surgery much easier. New studies show that surgeons find it easier to make incisions through clean, well drained tissue. Surgeons site that the lymphatic drainage process prior to surgery can….
- Promotes tissue regeneration
- Accelerates healing time
- Causes fewer complications
- Reduces severity of scars and keloids
Surgeons highly recommend at least two lymphatic treatments prior to surgery.
Q: My doctor told me to massage the areas of surgery myself, but when I do, it hurts. Why doesn’t lymphatic massage hurt?
A: We hear this a lot. As lymphatic specialists, we know exactly how to touch the body so that it does not cause you pain. Lymphatic Healing Center’s exclusive system (designed by founder Nancy Wakely) is the most gentle and highly effective.
At the LHC, we provide double padded massage tables for your comfort. We use many different types of pillows to help you lie comfortably on our tables.
For instance, let’s say you just had a tummy tuck, breast lift, augmentation, and liposuction. At home you are sleeping propped up or sleeping in your recliner. We understand that you cannot lie flat. We use a wedge pillow for you to lean back on and one under your legs. This enables you to be comfortable enough to get a LHT right away.
Our lymphatic specialists are trained to meet all your needs, including safely helping you in and out of your garments as well as on and off our tables.
Q: How soon can I get a lymphatic treatment after surgery?
A: As soon as you are physically able! Once you have visited your surgeon for your first post-op visit and learn that you are healing as expected, you can schedule your first lymphatic treatment (usually 1-2 weeks after surgery.) Do NOT wait until you are out of pain to see us!
Q: How many sessions do I need?
A: We recommend two or three sessions a week for optimum healing. The Lymphatic Healing Center offers a discount when you purchase a package of five or more sessions.
Q: Are there any other benefits of Lymphatic Treatments?
A: The benefits of lymphatic treatment include:
- Managing fibromyalgia
- Help you heal from injury
- Reduce inflammation
- Improving circulation
- Strengthening the immune system
- Helping with weight loss
- Reducing fluid retention, potentially improving blood pressure
- Eliminating harmful and aging toxins
